1º PRIMARIA. NATURAL SCIENCE. UNIT 5: SO MANY MATERIALS!



This unit presents the topic related to the origin of materials, their properties and the relationship to how each material is used.  Pupils will also get the opportunity to learn and apply the 3 Rs rule: reduce, reuse and recycle. 

The main objects are:
 

1. Recognise the origin of different materials.
2. Learn about the properties of different materials and their relationship to how each material is used.
3. Identify changes experienced by materials when they are exposed to environmental agents.
4. Identify positive approaches to caring for the environment.
5. Learn and apply the 3 Rs rule.

VOCABULARY 
- Materials: plastic, metal, wood, cotton, glass, wool, silk, paper.
- Properties: soft-hard, rouhg-smooth, rigid-flexible.
- Shapes: circle, triangle, square, rectangle.
- Recycle: reduse, reuse, recycle.

2º PRIMARIA. NATURAL SCIENCE. UNIT 4: HEALTH COMES FIRST!

In this unit the students will learn about healthy habits related to their body, personal hygiene, a balanced diet, getting plenty of sleep and regular phisycal ewercise.

The main objects are: 


1. Recognise healthy habits related to wellbeing and personal safety
2. Know how often to eat foods in order to have a balanced diet.
3. Classify different food groups in the food pyramid.
4. Identify which foods need to be kept cold.
5. Identify food labels and know how to understand them.
6. Show an interest in taking care of oneself and being healthy, reflecting on their diet and physical exercise.

VOCABULARY:
- Healthy habits: variet diet, hygiene, exercise, rest-sleep.
- Healthy diet: bread, pasta, rice, fruit, vegetables, meat, cheese, fish, oils, butter, sweets.
- Food label: ingredients, expiry date, conservation.

1º EDUCACIÓN PRIMARIA. SOCIAL SCIENCE. UNIT 4: THE WORLD WHERE I LIVE

Esta unidad aborda los contenidos relacionados con el paisaje, ya sean los naturales, es decir, donde no hay intervención humana, como aquellos entornos donde ha existido una intervención humana. Tambien se introducen conceptos relacionados con el día y la noche.

Principales objetivos:
- Diferenciar en los paisajes elementos naturales de aquellos que han sido constridos por el ser humano.
- Reconocer construcciones elaboradas por el ser humano.
- Detectar acciones humanas que perjudican el entorno natural y plantear acciones para paliarlas.
- Diferenciar entre día y noche e identificar las características de cada momento.

VOCABULARIO:
- Natural landforms: mountain, river, forest, lake, valley, meadow, beach, cliff, island.
- Artificial elements: village, road, promenade, greenhouse, crops, bridge, tunnel, lighthouse.
- Sky: sun, moon stars, day, night.

2º PRIMARIA. SOCIAL SCIENCE. UNIT 4: IN MY VILLAGE OR IN YOUR CITY?

This unit is based on locality and how it works.

The main objects are:
1. Identify and describe municipality, locality and the town council.
2. Show ineterst in and recognise the cultural and popular traditions of the locality.
3. Recognise road safety rules, such us road signs, traffic lights and traffic police signals.
4. Show interest in and respect for the rules of living together in society.

VOCABULARY:
- Locality: city, town, village, neighbourhood, streets, squares, shops, market, park, sports centre, library, schools, hospital.
- Town council: mayor, mayoress, councillors.
- Public services: transport, health, security and emergency, cleaning, social, education, cultural and recreation services.
- Road safety: pedestrian, driver, traffic lights, road/traffic signs, pedestrian crossing, traffic police, road markings.

1º EDUCACIÓN PRIMARIA. NATURAL SCIENCE. UNIT 4: AN ANIMAL WORLD

This unit bring the world of animals to pupils providing them respect and care attitudes. Students will discover how to diferentiate each group of animals whilst learning the main characteristics of each group: fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals, birds and insects.


Our main objects are:


1. Learn the main characteristics of dinosaurs.
2. Differentiate between vertebrate (with bones) and invertebrate (without bones) animals.
3. Identify the different types of vertebrate animals: mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and amphibians.
4. Learn the main characteristics of mammals, birds and reptiles.
5. Learn the characteristics of fish and amphibians and establish the difference between them.

6. Encourage respect for and interest in other living things.

MAIN VOCABULARY:
- Dinosaurs: horns, jaw, claws, tail, legs, T-Rex
- Fish: scales, fins, gills, tail, shark, clownfish, sardine.
- Amphibians: moist skin, frog (egg, tapdole) toad, salamander.

1º EDUCACIÓN PRIMARIA. SOCIAL SCIENCE. UNIT 3: WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE?

En esta unidad, los alumnos/as aprenderán algunas caracteristicas del aire y el agua, así como los principales fenómenos atmosféricos relacionados a estos.

Nuestros principales objetivos son:
- Conocer las principales características del agua y el aire.
- Diferenciar los fenomenos meteorológicos y describir alguas sensaciones que éstos producen en el cuerpo.
- Incorporar vocabulario nuevo relacionado con el tiempo atmosférico.
- Trabajar la sucesión de estaciones del año.
- Conocer algunas acciones humanas que contaminan el aire y el agua.
- Hacer un uso responsable del agua dulce por ser un bien escaso.

2º EDUCACIÓN. NATURAL SCIENCE. UNIT 3: A TRIP AROUD THE HUMAN BODY. PRIMARIA.

In this unit, students will learn about how their body works, its component parts and the function of those parts.

 Our main objects are:
- Identify the five senses (sight hearing taste, touch and smell) and relate them to their organs.
- Know the main bones and muscles of the body, and match the with the musculoskeletal system.
- Know the organs and functions of the respiratory, circulatory and digestive system.
- Know the vital function of living things: nutrition, interaction and reproduction.
- Learn to accept and appreciate their own qualities and those of their classmates.

KEY VOCABULARY
- Vital functions: interaction, nutrition, reprodution.
- The five senses: sight-eyes, hearing-ears, smell-nose, taste-tongue, touch-skin.
- Digestive system: eat-chew, teeth, stomach, intestines.
- Respiratory:  breathe, nose, lungs.
